Medical Uses

Zyrtec is used to treat various allergies and hay fevers. If a person is having cold or allergy symptoms like, itching, runny nose, watery body, consumption of this pill can alleviate distress easily. One can also take this pill to treat sneezing that is due to hay fever, which is also known as allergic rhinitis. These medications are also used to heal allergies to molds and dust mites.

Dosage and Administration

Zyrtec pills are available in the dosage formulations of 5 mg and 10 mg in the form of regular tablets and as chewable tablets. Syrup form is also available in the dosage strength as 1 mg/ ml. It can be availed as an over the counter medication therefore, no prescription is required to attain this drug.

The chewable tablets should be chewed before it is swallowed. The tablets can be taken with or without food. The dissolving tablet should not be swallowed as a whole. It should be allowed to dissolve without being chewed.

You can swallow Zyrtec tablets many a time to get it dissolved. To help yourself swallow better, you may even drink a glass of water or any other liquid. Do not increase or decrease the dosage strength of the pill or take it longer than what is insisted as doing so can severely react on your body.

Side effects

The common side effects of this medication comprises of dry mouth, dizziness, headache, nausea, fatigue, drowsiness, dizziness, sore throat. The side effects of this pill in children can be vomiting and stomach pain. Relative contraindications to Zyrtec

These medications can increase the sleepiness that is caused by cetirizine pills.
