Product Description

Zanaflex is a muscle relaxant drug that contains the active ingredient Tizanidine. The short-acting drug’s effects can be felt centrally and not in any particular part of the body. The available doses of this drug are 2 mg, 4 mg and 6 mg. The patient is usually started on the minimum dose as that is strong enough to treat the symptoms. Uses

Zanaflex can be used to treat spasticity, muscle cramping, and muscle tightness to soothe the strain felt by the muscles. These symptoms are usually felt in persons with back pain, spinal injuries, multiple sclerosis, and spastic diplegia.

Zanaflex may also be used to treat the similar symptoms in other health problems like trouble sleeping, migraines, and even as an anticonvulsant. The dosage and course of drug therapy is assessed by the prescribing physician based on the patient’s response to the treatment.

Dosage

Zanaflex is an extremely powerful medication even at the minimum dosage strength. Hence it is required to take the medication only as recommended by the doctor. One can also read the instructions on the product label to ensure that the pill is taken right.

Drugs that should be avoided while on Zanaflex are Acyclovir, anti-allergy pills, Famotidine, Cimetidine, Ticlopidine, birth control pills, Zileuton, blood pressure medicines, and antibiotics.
