Product Description

Being the brand-name for Isoxsuprine, Vasodilan is a vasodilator that helps to relax and dilate certain blood vessels so they can accommodate more blood and facilitate flow of the blood to the different parts of the body they are attached to. Vasodilan also contains other inactive components apart from isoxsuprine.

Medical Uses

Vasodilan is used to increase blood flow to certain areas of the body that are affected by insufficient blood flow. The inadequate flow of blood happens due to certain blood vessel diseases called as Buerger’s disease, cerebral vascular insufficiency, raynaud disease and arteriosclerosis obliterans. So, by widening the blood vessels and maintaining a safe blood pressure, Vasodilan helps to treat these conditions.

As a secondary effect, Vasodilan can also decrease numbness, cold or tingling sensation. The medication is also available in two different formulations which are brand and generic versions.

Dosage and Administration

Vasodilan is taken orally. It is available for use as compresses tablets in the dosage strengths of 10 mg and 20 mg. Depending on the severity of the condition being treated three or four doses may be required in a day. Follow the dosage instructions provided by the medical practitioner.

Vasodilan must be taken with or without food and can be consumed with water. Check the information leaflet to know the exact usage of the medicine.

If you forget to take Vasodilan you can take it as soon as you remember.

Do not take Vasodilan if it is time for your next dose. This will lead to an overdose. The medicine comes in two different dosage strengths which are 10 to 20 mg. It can be taken three to four times a day.

Vasodilan must be used regularly to gain substantial benefit from it. But the medicine must not be used by people who suffer from bleeding of arteries and women who are in labor or women who have just given birth.

Side Effects

Like all prescription medications, Vasodilan also has some side effects and hence it needs to be used with care. Since the medicine is used in small quantities no common side effects have been reported so far. But it does have some severe side effects that only occur on a rare basis. The severe side effects of Vasodilan are allergic reactions, pain in the chest, heartbeat that is irregular and severe dizziness. Since the medicine has a potential for causing dizziness heavy machinery must not be operated.

Interactions with other drugs

There are no known interactions of this medicine. However, before you start your course on Vasodilan, it is better to check with a health care facilitator and inform him about all the medications that you are currently consuming. This averts all the health risks. A doctor usually analyzes your body condition, age and medications you take and only then prescribe a suitable medicine for you.
