This lack of estrogen is common during menopause. Premarin is given as a replacement of estrogen. It is also used by men and women for treating certain types of cancers.

How it works?

Premarin works to reduce the symptoms of menopause like hot flashes, vaginal dryness and irritation which are caused by the body that makes less estrogen. This medication produces enough estrogen to prevent and treat the underlying conditions. These tablets contain conjugated estrogen as the active ingredient which is a naturally occurring form of female sex hormone and these estrogens treat the distressing symptoms that women after menopause go through and also tackles the problem efficiently.

Premarin is used in the treatment of a number of medical conditions like treating symptoms of menopause such as hot flashes, burning, vaginal dryness and irritation. It also helps to prevent osteoporosis in postmenopausal women and also in the replacement of estrogen in women who are having ovarian failure or other conditions that can create a lack of natural estrogen in the body. Sometimes, Premarin is also used as part of treating cancer in both men and women.

The maximum dose limit of Premarin for severe symptoms is 0.3 mg per day. In case of failure of ovarian function, 0.625mg is given daily. Dose changes should be considered after review of a lot of criteria. Thus, stick to the prescription dose.
