Lynoral comprises of the active ingredient Ethinylestradiol which is the synthetic version of the female sex hormone oestrogen. It is a contraceptive pill indicated for oral administration and is available only upon prescription. It is available in the form of tablets.
Physicians prescribe Lynoral mainly to prevent pregnancy and also to be used to treat menopausal and post-menopausal symptoms especially for the vasomotor effects. This tablet works to prevent ovulation, thickens the mucus in the cervix and also changes the lining of the uterus. It is also used by women who have entered menopause and in the management of breast cancer, dysmenorrheal, post menopause osteoporosis, female hypogonadism.
Lynoral is also used to treat abnormal bleeding from the uterus, delayed sexual development in some female, treat natural low levels of estradiol or even for treating certain cancers of the prostate.

Dosage and Administration
Lynoral is available in various forms and dosage strengths. The typical dose of Lynoral is a compressed tablet that contains 0.01 mg of Ethinylestradiol. The drug may also be taken at a slightly higher dosage of 0.05 mg depending on the condition being treated and the age of the patient.
Lynoral tablets should be taken orally, usually once each day. As it is indicated for oral administration, it can be taken by mouth with a glass full of water either with or without food. The dosage for the medication depends upon age and patient’s response to the medication.
The tablet should never be crushed, broken or chewed at any time and should be swallowed as a whole. This medical course is carried over by taking a single lynoral tablet each day for 21 days and no tablets for the next 7 days and the same procedure is repeated until the doctor requests to stop using the medication. For cancer patients, the drug should be taken three times every day for a period of 3 months.
If you experience certain symptoms like stomach ache, stomach upset, bloating, diarrhea, changes in weight, appetite, swelling of the hands, feet or legs, acne, increased blood pressure, breast tenderness, bleeding or spotting in between menstrual cycle while on a course of treatment with Lynoral, inform your health care professional immediately and get treated for the symptoms.
