A new study reveals that Cialis is also effective in helping men with spinal cord injuries.

Study on Cialis for spinal cord injuries

Cialis in men with spinal cord injuriesMen who have had spinal cord injuries are known to get the better of their erectile dysfunction when they take Cialis. Spinal cord injuries are very much common than people can realize. About 10.4 to 83 people per million are known to suffer from spinal cord injuries on an annual basis. Spinal cord injury is mostly encountered by young men resulting in various consequences such as physical, emotional, psychological and social distress. Erectile dysfunction which is defined as the inefficiency of men to attain and maintain a steady erection throughout the sexual activity to achieve a satisfactory sexual experience is often seen as a great difficulty in those who have had a spinal cord injury. Research states that only about one quarter of men with spinal cord injuries usually manage to get an erection without any difficulty during sexual activities.

Research on Cialis in men with spinal cord injuries

Researchers carried out a randomized double blind placebo study in men with spinal cord injuries, ranging in the age group of 38. These patients were initially monitored without giving any treatment for ED. They were all randomly selected to get treatment for tadalafil while other set of people received a placebo. The treatment lasted for about twelve weeks, the patients were asked to take the med when they were in need of it, before any sexual activity, to be taken once a day. Patients on Cialis were initially given 10mg of tadalafil and four weeks later they were given 20mg, depending upon their response to the drug.

Outcome

The research revealed that those patients who were given tadalafil managed to achieve penetration almost 75% of the time, successfully. At the same time they experienced a successful intercourse for about 47% of the time. Those patients who were on placebo managed to achieve penetration for about 41.1% of the time while having a successful intercourse for about 16% of the time. The researchers stated that this ED pill Cialis is very safe and is considered to be very well tolerated with exception of few treatments based emergent side effects. Patients who were taking Cialis, experienced common side effects like urinary tract infection and also headache. In other ED related studies where patients found it difficult to treat due to pre-existing conditions like diabetes mellitus, prostatectomy, Cialis emerged to become very effective in treating ED after a painful spinal cord injury. Tadalafil helps in improving the sex life of patients with ED and spinal cord injury.
