Can Viagra work for womenErectile dysfunction (ED) is a condition that many men face, wherein they are unable to achieve and maintain an erection during sexual activity. It is a type of impotency that also includes premature ejaculation. The condition can be treated with Viagra, the blockbuster blue pill that has helped a lot of men to overcome this problem. The drug is effective in men to an extent that even those above the age of sixty and have problems with sexual fitness have benefitted from taking Viagra. On the other hand, men whose partners are around the same age or have crossed menopause may also have the problem of sexual dysfunction, for which there are no definite remedies or treatments as yet. With the introduction of Sildenafil into the market, the question of treating female sexual arousal disorder (FSAD) or sexual dysfunction has also been studied. Medical researchers have conducted trials on the efficacy of Viagra on women but the drug has not given the expected results. Men and women have different characteristics by which they feel sexual arousal, which is one of the main reasons that the blue pill does not work the same way for women as it does for men.

What are the effects of Viagra on women?

Despite the results clearly showing that the impotency drug Viagra is not as efficient in women, one can look deeper into the reasons by understanding how the pill actually works. The ED pill is a PDE5 inhibitor, which means it suppresses the enzyme that slows the blood flow to the penis. The drug works by relaxing the muscles in the walls of blood vessels and increasing the blood flow to other parts of the body. After taking the pills, and with sexual stimulation, the person is able to achieve an erection and maintain it without any discomfort. When used by women, the drug may aid in improving sexual pleasure but it does not help in overcoming sexual dysfunction. The trials showed that the drug’s effects were not much different from that of using a placebo. Furthermore, the safety of using Sildenafil in women and the potential side effects are yet to be established. The investigation into the uses of this drug other than for treating ED in men continues to be ongoing. Erectile Dysfunction medication for men has very different effects on women when they take it.

What exactly is ‘female Viagra’?

Men’s sexual health problems can now be cured with Viagra and other such ED pills. The drug of choice can be easily availed from a Canadian drug store online. Many pharmaceutical companies have introduced various versions of ED pills that can boost sexual wellness. The same problem in women requires different treatment options and there as yet no viable solutions. The ‘female Viagra’ that is generally marketed is not the real Sildenafil but just herbal supplements and other pills that use the brand name for drugs used to treat sexual problems. These herbal supplements for women are not regulated and they may or may not work. Some of these pills may just increase a woman’s libido but not actually help in maintaining it till the sexual activity is over. Research for finding a viable solution for women’s sexual problems is ongoing and many drug companies conduct trials with newer formulations. Often, these trials fail due to the side effects outweighing the benefits and the FDA has yet to approve a suitable drug for this problem. Viagra is highly effective in men with ED, but it is not approved for use in women as it does not have the same benefits.
