Product Description

Altace, which is the generic formulation of Ramipril, is an ACE inhibitor which suppresses the action of the angiotensin-converting enzyme. The medication works by relaxing the muscles along the arterial blood vessels, thereby enabling reduced blood pressure and easier flow throughout the body. The orally ingested medications have a biological half-life of about two to four hours. The available dosage strengths of this capsule are 1.25 mg, 2.5 mg, 5 mg, 10 mg and 20 mg.

Medical Uses

Altace is used in treating illnesses, including hypertension, patients with critical risk of heart failure, congestive heart failure, kidney damage from diabetes, and patients above the age of fifty-five who are at higher risk of heart related and stroke problems.

Other persons for whom this medication is not suitable are those with liver disease, diabetes, and any connective tissue illness. Pregnant women should refrain from taking the capsules as it can harm the developing fetus. Even the event that the person becomes pregnant while on this medication course, stop taking it and inform the healthcare provider immediately of the situation.
